John "Jay" Hemphill
 
Jay Hemphill is a 2001 graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Hemphill is a cum laude graduate of the LL.M. in Taxation program from the University of Alabama School of Law.  Mr. Hemphill's legal career spans both in private practice and in public service. Mr. Hemphill practiced with a full service business and litigation law firm for four years in Raleigh. Prior to prior entering private practice, Mr. Hemphill served as a Captain in the United States Air Force's JAG Corps at Edwards Air Force Base in California and at Pope Air Force Base on Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
 
Mr. Hemphill enjoys studying American History, being outside in his native North Carolina and distance running. Jay is married to the former Melinda Seamans is the proud father of two sons.

Robert "Brattan" Gelder, III
 
Brattan Gelder is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University School of Law. After graduating from Wake Forest, he earned his first experience in estate planning as an associate in a boutique estate planning firm with offices in Asheville and Hendersonville, NC, where he focuses his practice on asset protection planning and estate and gift tax planning for high net worth individuals. After joining Wachovia Securities (later Wells Fargo Advisors) in late 2005, Mr. Gelder traveled extensively throughout the mid-Atlantic region as a Regional Wealth Consultant for Wachovia Bank, where he advised financial advisors and high net worth individuals on the formation and implemention of estate and tax planning strategies.  
 
Mr. Gelder lives in Asheville with his wife, Danielle, daughter Ella Hayes and stepson, Waylan.  In addition to spending time with his family, Mr. Gelder enjoys UNC athletics and exploring the North Carolina mountains.

Daniel A. Jenkins
 
Daniel Jenkins is an active member of the State Bars of North Carolina, California and Washington.  Mr. Jenkins graduated in 2001 from the Wake Forest University School of Law.  Prior to law school, Daniel studied Finance and Accounting at Clemson University and worked as a corporate accountant for IBM. In 2003, Daniel graduated first in his class when he was awarded an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law.

Vaughn S. Monroe
 
 
Vaughn S. Monroe, a Fayetteville, North Carolina native, is a 2003 cum laude graduate of the  North Carolina Central University School of Law. Prior to law school Vaughn was awarded a full athletic scholarship to attend East Carolina University, where he ran track.  He majored in Political Science and graduated on the Dean's List. Prior to joining the Firm, Vaughn was an assocaite with Van Winkle, Buck, Wall and Starnes in Asheville, NC and served as an Assistant Attorney General for the North Carolina Department of Justice.
